Structure:
Polyurethane associative thickener is a new type of non-ionic waterborne polyurethane polymer. Its molecular structure is characterized by an amphiphilic polymer. The middle segment of the molecule is a hydrophilic segment and both ends are lipophilic segments.
Thickening mechanism:
In the water-based system, when the polyurethane associative thickener reaches a certain concentration, the lipophilic segments associate to form micelles. In the water-based polymer system, the lipophilic segments mainly polymerize with polymer particles.
Rheological characteristics:
According to rheological characteristics, thickeners can be divided into pseudoplastic and Newtonian types. H416A and H199A products have a great contribution to low-shear viscosity and are strong pseudoplastic products; H416D and H199D have high-shear viscosity contributions, rheological curves are close to Newtonian fluids, and have excellent leveling performance; H416B and H199B are medium Low shear contribution; H416C and H199C are high and medium shear contribution.
Features:
1. Excellent flow, leveling and brushing feel.
2. Excellent resistance to roll coating splashing.
3. Excellent water resistance.
4. It does not affect the gloss of the coating film. Other types of thickeners—generally water-soluble polymers, have high molecular polarity, and have poor compatibility with the film-forming polymers in the coating film, resulting in the coating film matting, while polyurethane is associated The type thickener has good compatibility with commonly used emulsion particles, so that the coating film has a higher gloss.
5. Wide application range of PH. Polyurethane associative thickener is non-ionic, not limited by anions and cations, and is effective in a wide range of PH values.
6. Excellent dispersion performance. Because the structure is similar to that of traditional nonionic surfactants, it has the function of dispersing and stabilizing resins, pigments, and additives.
